Just 17 more hearts and I will hit my 999 hearts given away! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I started this practice. Now it’s really a way of life for me. I can’t leave my house without a bunch of hearts in my pocket.
Last week I needed to go to the doctors and they sent me across the street for some tests. Every place I stopped… lab, x-ray,… I offered hearts. Every time the person was touched and grateful. And again and again, “I needed this today.”
And it’s not just because they are health care workers. I would say 80% of the time I give a heart away, I get the same response. “Thanks so much. I really needed this.”
And I don’t think its the heart really. It’s the stopping to look someone in the eye and SEE them. Making that connection with each other. The heart is just a symbol of that. And almost always a little conversation happens that wouldn’t have happened without stopping, offering, accepting. Simply beautiful!
